Osmeña Mulling on Filing Case Against Officials Not Submitting Liquidation Reports
Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña is bent on filing more cases against barangay officials who failed to submit liquidation reports of the various Financial Assistance given to them.
During a presscon recently, the mayor said there are barangays who were not able to liquidate the financial assistance given to them by the Cebu City government for various projects.
One particular barangay was noted to have received more than P14 million pesos which will be used for various programs among which are the Ist Quarter Barangay Assembly, Annual Summer Sportsfest, Security Assistance for the Ironman 70.3, Barangay & other Infrastructure projects, Brgy. Sports Program, Oplan Kalagkalag, Gender Sensitivity Workshop, 2nd Anniversary Thanksgiving Mass, Ist Waterfront Friendship Games and the Christmas year-end Sports Tournament.
Of the total amount the barangay received, only P10, 000 pesos was liquidated and is now under pre-audit while more than P14M remains unliquidated as of December 31, 2017.
“Where did the money go? They were given more than enough time, we gave them extensions but still no liquidations”, said the mayor.
According to him, there were already seven filed cases and will be filing more if there are still barangays who refuses to coordinate with the city government.
“No matter what happens to this election, I am still the mayor and I’m just doing my job, so don’t say it’s not your business” he added.
The mayor assures that officials in these barangays who will be re-elected will not expect any support from him. (Cebu City PIO/Farah T. Cabajar/CNU Communication Intern)
