BIR Unveils 2018 Tax Campaign Theme and Logo
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) unveiled its 2018 tax campaign theme and logo “SALAMAT SA’YO” to officially kick off its drive to collect P2.039 trillion this year.
The unveiling was led by Commissioner of Internal Revenue Caesar R. Dulay during the flag-raising ceremony at the BIR National Office, BIR Road, Diliman, Quezon City. It was replicated at the same time in all offices of the BIR, a first in the history of the tax agency where all its revenue personnel wearing the official one look-one feel blue t-shirt were in attendance.
The theme “SALAMAT SA’YO” is a deviation from the usual slant of asking the taxpayers to pay their correct taxes on time – also a first in the tax campaign run of the tax agency. It acknowledges the contribution of taxpayers in the 2017 actual tax collection of P1.779 trillion where the BIR posted the highest growth rate and tax effort ratio in the last five (5) years.
The logo is represented by a ripple to emphasize the impact of paying the correct amount of tax no matter how small it is. A tiny drop of water (the tax paid) into a body of water will create a ripple that will turn into a wave as other droplets touch the water surface. The payment of correct taxes will make ripples into waves in terms of contribution to nation-building.
“SALAMAT SA’YO” also acknowledges the efforts of the men and women of BIR for their competence, professionalism, and contribution to the collection efforts of the tax agency. The work of every employee from the top to the bottom counts in such efforts.
The simultaneous nationwide unveiling was a fitting follow-up to the successful BIR National Tax Campaign Kickoff held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) where the BIR and all its stakeholders gathered to share the success in 2017 and to usher in the new tax campaign drive.
