Grains Businessmen Reminded to Renew Licenses on Time
The National Food Authority (NFA) reminds grains businessmen to renew their licenses this February, or face surcharges and penalties.
According to NFA-IX Regional Director John Robert Hermano, grains businessmen must follow the schedule and renew their licenses on time.
Margarette Ridad, NFA-IX information officer, said that over 2,000 grains businessmen from Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga del Norte are scheduled for license renewal this January and February. In Zamboanga City, grains businessmen in barangays under the first congressional district and those at the main public market and Sta. Cruz Commercial Complex have already renewed their licenses. This February, NFA targets barangays in the second district.
Meanwhile, Ridad explained that failure to follow the set schedule in renewing licenses will merit a “surcharge fee equivalent to 25 percent of the total license cost and another 25 percent for every month thereafter.”
“Those who are required to secure or renew their NFA license are grains businessmen engaged in lines of activities such as retailing, wholesaling, milling, warehousing, transporting, manufacturing, threshing, corn shelling, mechanical drying, packaging, poultry and hog raising, and importing,” Ridad explained. She added that requirements include 2 pieces 2×2 ID pictures and 2 photocopies of the City Mayor’s permit.
Grains businessmen can visit the NFA in Zamboanga City in barangay San Roque from 8am to 5pm or call them at (062) 991-1789 and look for Licensing Officer Jaime Torralba.
