CCLEX Awards “Design and Build” Contract for Cebu’s 3rd Bridge
The Cebu Cordova Expressway Link Corp. (CCLEC) recently awarded the “Design and Build” contract for the construction of Cebu’s 3rd bridge to the Cebu Link Joint Venture (CLJV).
The copy of the signed Notice of Award of the P22.6-billion contract was handed over to Acciona Construccion Southeast Asia Director Ruben Camba, who represented CLJV.
CLJV is a consortium of Spain-based Acciona Construccion SA and Philippine-based First Balfour Inc. and D.M. Consunji Inc.
It was Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) President and CEO Rodrigo Franco, and CCLEC President and General Manager Allan Alfon who handed the notice.
This was witnessed by Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmena, Cordova Mayor Mary Therese Sitoy-Cho, and Adelino Sitoy, Presidential Adviser on Legislative Affairs and head of the Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO).
Also present during the ceremonial awarding were First Balfour Inc. President Anthony Fernandez and D.M. Consunji President Jorge A. Consunji.
Earlier last year, no less than President Rodrigo Duterte graced the groundbreaking ceremony of this project in Barangay Pilipog, Cordova.
The CCLEX, set for completion in the year 2020, is born through the initiative of both the local government units of Cebu City and the Municipality of Cordova.
This will be the third bridge linking Cebu City to Mactan Island via Cordova town.
The CCLEX is seen to decongest the heavy traffic especially coming to and from Mactan Island.
It will divert the traffic from Mandaue City especially during peak hours on weekdays.
The Cordova Link Expressway Corporation (CCLEC), MPTDC’s subsidiary, will undertake the project.
They will finance, design, build, and operate the bridge.
