PH Proposes Trade Deals with Mexico
Agriculture Undersecretary for Operations Ariel T. Cayanan presents to the Ambassador to the Philippines, H.E. Julio Camarena Villaseñor the intentions of the Department of Agriculture (DA) to export Philippine abaca and coconuts to Mexico during a courtesy meeting on March 10, 2017, at the DA office.
In response, Amb. Villaseñor expressed the intention of the Mexican government to establish a phytosanitary agreement with the country that focuses on the exportation of beef, pork, berries (blueberry, raspberry, and grapes), citrus (green and yellow lemon), avocado, tomatoes, and broccoli.
The Mexican Ambassador added that their government is willing to supply Mexican cows that will be genetically inseminated with an embryo from Argentina.
The meeting was also attended by Mexico’s head for Bilateral Cooperation Arturo Villaruel, DA’s Chief-of-Staff Atty. Francisco M. Villano, Jr., OIC for International Affairs Division Ma. Araceli A. Escandor, and Bureau of Animal Industry Assistant Director Dr. Simeon S. Amurao, Jr. (DA)
