Cebu Mayors Called for Meeting in Malacanang
Municipal mayors in Cebu were summoned to appear before the Office of the President in Malacañang Palace on Wednesday, Jan. 11.
Tuburan town Mayor Democrito Diamante, president of the League of Municipalities in the Philippines – Cebu chapter, said they received the information from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) 7 requiring them to come in business attire during the meeting on January 11.
Diamante said the meeting will be participated in by mayors from all over the country although the reason has not been disclosed.
He said mayors from the Visayas and Mindanao areas are scheduled to have their meeting at 2 p.m., while those from Luzon are set to meet later at 4 p.m.
DILG 7 Regional Director Rene Burdeos said they are also not aware about the topic of the meeting as it was not provided in the advice from Malacañang.
Burdeos said around 1,400 mayors from all over the country, including more than a hundred from the Central Visayas, are expected to attend the meeting. (PNA)LAP/EB/EDS
