Boracay Tourists to Experience Ati-Atihan at the Beach

Visitors of this resort island will get to experience the renowned Aklan festival Ati-Atihan this weekend.

Now on its fourth year, the Boracay Ati-Atihan celebration aims to allow tourist to experience the famous Ati-Atihan Festival, which originated in the capital town of Kalibo.

The two-day event will highlight the devotion of the Boracaynons to Senor Santo Nino.

The event will start with the opening salvo and Kabataan’s (Youth) Night on Saturday, January 7.

The highlight of the event is the traditional ‘sadsad’ or street dancing along the White Beach on Sunday, January 8.

The activity will gather participants from various secondary schools in Boracay as well as tourists, locals and representatives of various commercial establishments in the island in colorful costumes.

A procession of the image of Senor Santo Nino will also be held along the White Beach.

Meanwhile, this year’s Kalibo Ati-Atihan Festival is slated January 9 to 15.

Aside from Kalibo, the annual festival is also celebrated in four other towns in Aklan. (PNA)PGL/AJP/KVBERMEJO
