Philippines to Join World 9-ball Tournament in China
Three women, led by many-time Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Rubilen Amit, are scheduled to compete in the Women’s World 9-ball Championship in Chengdu, China next week.
Joining the trip are fellow national athletes Irish Ranola and Chezka Centeno, both hoping to gain more experience in the tournament which is expected to draw the cream-of-the-crop in the sport.
Amit and Centeno will be leaving early as they will compete in the CBSA 9-ball tournament in Jiaxing from Dec. 7-9.
Amit, the 2009 World 10-ball and mixed doubles winner, is seeking to improve on her performance before the year ends. She was ninth in the China Open and 17th in the International 9-ball tournament in Taiwan.
A world title would definitely boost Amit’s confidence when she sees action in the SEA Games as well as the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games next year. (PNA)
