34 Drug Surrenderors Avail of Livelihood Assistance
Roxas City, Capiz – Drug surrenderors in Sapian town are now availing of livelihood assistance.
Sapian, Capiz Information Officer Roberto Opina disclosed that 34 drug surrenderors in their area have availed already of their local government’s livelihood program assistance.
Dubbed as Kapatiran Sa Masaganang Kabuhayan (KASAMA KA), the livelihood program is a loan granted for a start-up capital ranging from P3,000 to P10,000 and payable in three months with a 1-percent interest in said period.
“The 34 surrenderors who each received P3,000.00 are our first batch of livelihood loan assistance beneficiaries and the same assistance will be released to those who wish to avail it soon,” he said.
Sapian has so far recorded a total of 112 drug surrenderors in view of the Oplan Tokhang under the Project Double Barrel of the Philippine National Police.
Opina said that the livelihood assistance recipients underwent a two-day orientation seminar from the town’s training group before availing of said assistance.
On the other hand, Sapian Mayor Atty. Arthur John Biñas reminded anew the drug surrenderors to stop and get away from the use or trade of dangerous and illegal drugs as the government is determined in its fight to curb this societal problem.
Biñas also urged them to make their life productive and of help to their community. (JCM/JBG/PIA6)
