Creation of Task Force Vs Dengue Eyed
Kalibo, Aklan — In a bid to minimize the alarming rise of dengue cases in Aklan, the Provincial Health Office is eyeing the creation of a task force.
Dr. Cornelio Cuachon of the Aklan Provincial Health Office said he has already submitted the draft legislation to the health committee of the Aklan provincial board.
“In previous years, we recorded a heightened number of dengue cases usually in the month of August and September of the year. With the creation of the task force, we maybe able to prevent dengue cases from further increasing its number,” said Cuachon.
From January 1 to July 12 this year, the Aklan Provincial Epidemiology Surveillance and Response Unit (APESRU) of the PHO has recorded around 525 dengue cases all over the province.
The task force would be composed of representatives from the PHO, the Department of Education, barangay officials, among others, said Cuachon.
The creation of the task force is expected to strengthen provincial effort against rising dengue cases since major sectors are being compelled to act. (PNA) JMC/AJP/JNAGUIRRE/LPT
