NBI Forms Group to Focus on Probe of Peter Lim
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has created a fact-finding team tasked to investigate Peter Lim, who was earlier identified by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte as a drug lord in the Visayas.
Lim had personally went to President Duterte last week to deny that he was the person who was identified by the President as allegedly involved in illegal drugs.
He appeared before the NBI on Thursday.
According to NBI Spokesman Atty. Ferdinand Lavin, the newly-created fact-finding team would order the camp of Lim to submit documents.
Lavin said that also to be included in the investigation are the results of the inquiry by the House Committee on Dangerous Drugs in 2006 where Lim appeared as a resource person.
However, Lavin did not mention about what kind of documents they would ask Lim to submit.
Meanwhile, according to Atty. Ramon Esguerra, legal counsel of Lim, his client promised to cooperate with the NBI.
Esguerra said that Lim was ready to return to the NBI if he would be summoned.
Lim was placed under investigation by the NBI on Thursday, but Esguerra refused to give details about it.
Lim also submitted a letter to NBI Director Dante Gierran, but he also did not disclose its contents.
Nevertheless, Lim maintained before the NBI investigators that he was never involved in illegal drugs. (PNA) RMA/PTR
