Davide Turns Over PHP8.551M Worth of School Buildings
Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III has turned over five two-classroom school buildings in schools situated in mountain villages in southern Cebu.
These schools were built in the Calangcang Elementary school in Badian town and the Kagsing Elementary School and the Mangaco Integrated School in Ginatilan town and Barangay Cansaloay Integrated Sçhool and El Pardo Elementary School in Boljoon town, all in southern Cebu.
“Education is the priority of the provincial government, that’s why we continue to construct school buildings in areas which lack classrooms,” Davide said.
Engr. Bobby Lim of the Cebu Provincial Engineer’s Office said each two-classroom school building costs between PHP1.421 million and PHP1.426 million.
Lima said the difference depends on its distance of the school from the main highway.
Each two-classroom building is accompanied by 80 plastic armchairs.
“Of what use is a classroom if there are no chairs,” Davide said.
Davide said he felt uncomfortable seeing pupils bringing their own chairs to their schools. (PNA) FFC/EB/SSC
