DTI Slates Coffee Appreciation Course
Iloilo City (PNA) — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will be holding a three-day appreciation course on coffee, basic coffee preparation and business operations to entrepreneurs of the coffee industry from June 1 to 3, 2016 in a local hotel here.
Dubbed as “Coffee 101”, experts in the coffee industry will discuss coffee growing techniques, good agricultural practices, coffee processing and marketing, trends and direction of the coffee industry, and coffee harvesting, post-harvest processing system and marketing, among others.
Participants include coffee farmers, traders, coffee organizations, selected micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), other national government agencies and local government units of the coffee industry cluster from the provinces of Antique, Capiz and Iloilo.
The activity also seeks the organization of a Regional Coffee Council for Region VI.
DTI VI OIC-Regional Director Rebecca M. Rascon said the activity aims to promote and develop the country’s coffee industry, not only in the domestic market, but likewise in the international market.(PNA) LAP/PGL/PR/CBF
