AXA encourages Cebuanos to fail proof their future

Around 250,000 Filipino families fall into a lifetime of financial hardships due to illness with 9 out of 10 Filipinos forced to use up their savings at a time of critical illness. Only 15 out of every 100 Filipinos are prepared to leave something behind for their families should something happen to them. Among retirees, only 9% are living comfortably, while the rest are just getting by or are living in poverty. More than 75% of Filipino elementary schoolchildren don’t make it to college, and only 15% get to finish college. These were some of the startling figures shared in AXA Philippines’ “Fail Proof Your Future” event held recently at Quest Hotel, Archbishop Reyes Avenue, Cebu City.

“Throughout the year, Filipinos celebrate various milestones, such as the first day of school, a promotion to a dream job, and the transition from a storied career to retirement,” said Rahul Hora, Chief Agency Officer of AXA Philippines. “We believe that these milestones are not only worth celebrating, but are also worth planning for. However, we’ve seen some very alarming statistics that point to the fact that many Filipinos do not prepare for their future.”

The “Fail Proof Your Future” event covered the fundamentals of financial planning (Goal Setting, Assessing Financial Situation, Savings Planning and Budget and Managing Expenses) with money management coach and best-selling author Alvin Tabañag as main speaker. The event also underlined the importance of preparing for the four key financial needs: education, retirement, health, and income protection. More than just a seminar, the event was an interactive experience as Tabañag also highlighted key points of his talk through games with volunteers from the audience.

“AXA helps Cebuanos ‘fail proof’ their future by educating them on the different financial tools that are available to them,” Hora said. “We believe that each individual has unique aspirations, goals, and needs in life. That is why we encourage people to go through the AXA Financial Needs Analysis (FNA) tool to help them come up with a customized, personalized plan that will help them secure their goals and ensure longer-term financial stability, using the different products and solutions that we offer.”

“’Fail Proof’ Your Future’ is just one of the ways that we are reaching out to prospective customers,” he added. “We are running Fail Proof pocket sessions throughout the year in key cities nationwide to reach as many people as we can. We are optimistic that through these kinds of initiatives, we will be able to connect with more Filipinos and allow them to see the possibilities of having a secure, stable, and fail proof future.”
