UNILAB Brings Global Medical Experts For Echo Summit In Manila
Local pharmaceutical company United Laboratories (Unilab) brings four global medical experts for the 2016 Experts’ Convergence for Health Outcomes (ECHO) Summit here on Thursday.
The ECHO Summit, which Unilab started in 2015, is a continuing medical education conference to maintain the competence of local medical practitioners and learn about new developments in the field of medicine.
Unilab’s LRI-Therapharma Division Medical Director Ma. Rosario C. Sevilla, MD said the summit would discuss topics such as women’s health, depression and anxiety, heart disease, and diabetes.
“Four seemingly diverse topics will be brought together to be appreciated by the expected audience of internists, family, general, and industrial medicine practitioners. The integration of that knowledge can then be utilized in the proper medical management of their patients,” said Sevilla.
Among the world’s top-level practitioners in the field of medicine who will grace the 2nd ECHO Summit include Dr. Bertram Pitt, known worldwide as an expert on heart failure; Dr. Wilfred Fujimoto, who led the team that conducted The Japanese American Community diabetes Study in Washington, USA from 1983 to 2001;
Dr. Nassir Ghaemi, a professor at the Department of Psychiatry in Tufts University School of Medicine, will discuss treatment of depressive or anxiety symptoms in persons at risk of cardiovascular disease; and Dr. Amos Pines, the co-founder of the Israel Menopausal Society and an Associate Professor of Sackler Faculty of Medicine in Tel-Aviv University.
Sevilla said about a thousand medical practitioners would attend the ECHO Summit this year.
The 2015 ECHO Summit is supported by Unilab’s Specialty Cluster Therapharma Inc., LR Imperial Inc., Medichem Pharmaceuticals, and Biofemme. (PNA) RMA/KMC
