Improved, More Secured Postal ID Launched By PHLPost
The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) recently launched its improved postal Identification Card (Postal ID).
According to PHLPost, the improved postal ID has multiple security features that guarantee a safe and reliable identity card.
The improved and more secured postal ID is now infused with additional physical security features that are difficult to reproduce. These include a hologram of a running mailman which can only be seen in certain angles, and a UV ink or special ink that lights up to ultraviolet light. It also has a ghost image which is a slightly transparent copy of the applicant’s photograph.
Aside from the existing Postal Reference Number (PRN), guilloche and the QR code which could be found at the Basic ID, the Improved ID is subjected under Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) to further guarantee uniqueness. AFIS is a software that compares an applicant’s fingerprint to the fingerprint database record for faster verification.
The new postal ID is now available to all Filipinos living here and abroad, as well as to foreigners living in the Philippines for at least six (6) months upon application. No minimum age is prescribed for an applicant.
Application for the new postal ID is now accepted at P504.00 each. PHLPost will start the printing in May and will deliver the new postal ID to applicants.
