Negros Occidental’s Mambukal Resort Hits 46% Revenue Increase In First 2 Months
The famed Mambukal Mountain Resort, owned and operated by the Negros Occidental provincial government, posted a 46-percent increase in its revenues in the first two months of 2016.
Resort manager Ellen Marie Jalandoni said they have an income of about PHP10.15 million as of February, from only PHP6.9 million during the same period last year.
Mambukal, located in Barangay Minoyan, Murcia town, has already accommodated 64,340 guests from January to February this year, with an increase of 40 percent from last year’s first two months’ arrivals of 46,126.
“With the upcoming developments at the resort, we hope to provide more services and accommodate more guests,” Jalandoni said, adding that Mambukal continues to be one of the premier tourist destinations of the province.
The resort is already fully-booked for the coming Holy Week on March 21 to 27.
As of February, all 75 rooms of the resort already have confirmed reservations and initial payments, Jalandoni said.
Resort records showed that during the Holy Week last year, from April 2 to 5, it has accommodated 13,363 guests with almost PHP1.14 million in revenues.
“For this coming Holy Week, we will surely accommodate the same numbers of guests comprised of both foreign and domestic tourists,” Jalandoni said, adding that aside from rooms, other accommodation facilities and amenities are also expected to be fully-booked during the week.
The provincial government is also proposing the PHP84.8-million renovation and construction of Mambukal Mountain Resort Hotel and Convention Center, which is part of the PHP500-million infrastructure development projects being eyed by the province this year.(PNA) FFC/NLG/EPN
