Davide, Magpale Grace Turnover Ceremony Of P8M Causeway Project

They used to walk on muddy shores littered with sharp rocks and sometimes broken glasses that often caused bruises and cuts.

Fishermen in Corodova town would no longer have to worry about thisthreat with the completion of the causeway project.

Funded by the Cebu Province and the Municipality of Cordova, the 520-meter stretch coastal road connects the two barangays from Camolinas, Poblacio to Alegria. Another extension project to link the coastal freeway to barangay Gabi is also underway.

“Di nagyud ma pugnganangkalambuan sa Cordova,” said Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale during yesterday’s turnover ceremony attended by Gov. Hilario Davide III.

Town officials led by Mayor AdelinoSitoy and his daughter Vice Mayor TecheSitoy-Cho were present in the event.

Capitol and Cordova shared the cost of the P8 million coastal road project contributing P4 million each.

With a visionary leader like mayor Sitoy, Gov. Davide believes Cordova town will continue its progress and prosperity, which will pave the way for the town to become a city.

“I have no doubt, Cordova will eventually become a city with the pace of its progress under the leadership of Mayor Sitoy,” Davide said.

Leaders of the Fisherfolk Federation led by Pedro Eredera witnessed the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Infrastructure projects from the Capitol would continue to rain over Cordova with its plan to turn the town into a new gateway for foreign and local tourists who want to travel in nearby islands, said Sitoy.

Sitoysaid the governor has already approved the P5 million financial assistance road concreting in sitio San Miguel.

“This is the result of the clean and honest governance of Gov. Davide and Vice Gov. Magpale. We are very grateful to both of them for their support to our projects,” Sitoy said.

For his part, Davide promised the Capitol would continue to give financial assistance to help develop the town’s great potential especially with the construction of the third bridge that will connect Cebu City to Cordova, which is forthcoming.

To illustrate Davide’s commitment to uphold his promise, the mayor reminded his constituents of the P5 million calamity assistance that the governor immediately released to Cordova to help the fishermen and vendors whose livelihood were affected by the oil spill in 2013.
