Joavan Arrested in Moalboal

Almost two weeks since he escaped from jail, Joavan Fernandez was arrested at around 9am Monday in Barangay Saavedra, Moalboal town.

The report was confirmed by Talisay City acting police chief Supt. Elmer Lim. Chief superintendent Lim had issued a manhunt order against Joavan, son of outgoing Talisay City Mayor Socrates Fernandez, shortly after he bolted out of the prison cell of the city police at midnight of May 8. He was cornered by police in Barangay Babag, Lapu-Lapu City on May 13, but he was able to elude arrest.

Joavan was previously arrested on May 6, following a massive manhunt operation against him for his slight physical injury case, in Barangay Candulawan, Talisay City. His arrest added another series of cases against him after authorities found in his possession firearms, ammunition and explosives.
