OWWA Region 7 Scholar Passed Electronics Engineer Board Exam
Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Region 7 Scholar, Jefrancis Montebon Concepcion successfully passed the recent Electronics Engineer National Licensure Examination held last October 24-25, 2015.
Passing one of the most difficult board examinations in the country, Concepcion brought pride and honor to OWWA, proving that scholars who are dependents of OFWs can excel in their respective fields even in the national level.
“We are so happy about what our scholars have achieved. Jefrancis is an attestation to the competence of our scholars in national grounds and that they truly deserve the educational assistance of OWWA,” OWWA 7 Regional Director Wilfreda L. Misterio said.
Graduated last March 2015, Mr. Concepcion gained his BS in Electronics and Communication Engineering degree at Cebu Institute of Technology- University in Cebu City. For 5 years, he is an OWWA 7 Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) scholar and has maintained good grades, keeping his EDSP scholarship. According to him, he is very happy to be granted with the OWWA EDSP scholarship because it has helped him developed himself for a better future ahead.
“I really thank OWWA for giving me friends (co-scholars whom I shared my leisure moments with), family and most especially for the opportunity to send me to school through the scholarship. I know all of these won’t be realized if not because of OWWA’s support,” Jefrancis said.
”From the beginning, I’ve really seen Jefrancis as a smart and intelligent scholar. He appears to be a happy-go-lucky guy but actually he is a serious person and pretty much responsible with his studies,” Romyl Cabillo, EDSP In-Charge.
Jefrancis is the eldest and only son of OFW Francisco Concepcion Jr., a Store Manager in Unaizah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. According to Shirley M. Concepcion, Jefrancis’ mother, when OFW Francisco knew about the remarkable achievement of their son, he was so happy about it and thanked OWWA for being part of his son’s success through its Education for Development Scholarship Program.
Shirley is also very proud of Jefrancis. Aside from passing the licensure exam, Shirley mentioned that he has also been a good and obedient son. Throughout his journey, despite the absence of Francisco, Shirley never fails to guide Jefrancis and remind him to ‘enjoy life and go for the best’.
“I’m very happy that my son is now a Licensed Engineer. Despite the challenges we encountered, he managed to get through it,” Shirley added.
According to Jefrancis, he also owes this success to his parents. “I really thank my parents for the support (in all aspects) that they gave to me. Without them I wouldn’t become who I am today. My parents and also my close friends are the reason why I now see my worth… that I can say, I am something and I have done it,” Concepcion added.
Above all, he dedicates this success to the Lord who allowed all things to happen. For him, it’s all by His grace that He was able to reach his goal amidst all the challenges he encountered that shaken his determination and focus.
Now, Mr. Concepcion is still deciding which path of career he would pursue. With various job opportunities at hand, he wanted to choose wisely with the guidance of his parents. However, he doesn’t close his doors to teach back in Excel Review Center, where he had his review for the examination and inspire other aspiring electronics engineers or offer his service to Lear Corporation, where he had his on-the-job training.
