LTFRB Suspends Operations of 10 Raymond Buses
A fatal road accident in Sariaya, Quezon prompted transport authorities to impose a 30-day suspension order to 10 units of a bus company after the mishap killed one and injured around 40 others.
Initial police reports showed that one of the units of Raymond bus line crashed into a restaurant along Maharlika Highway in Sariaya, Quezon after the driver lost control trying to overtake another vehicle Saturday morning.
The unit which came from Camarines Sur was on its way to Cubao in Quezon City.
According to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), the board will review the incident and issue a show-cause order to the operator of the bus company.
It also ordered the operator to show up in a hearing on Jan. 13, 9 a.m. at the LTFRB main office in Quezon City.
The bus company might soon face the cancellation of its whole fleet as this has happened to other units of the same bus company for about three other times in separate occasions since 2013.
Bus driver Leandro De Quito was arrested by police.
Injured passengers were immediately taken to a nearby hospital in Lucena City. (PNA) RMA/ANP
