Mandaue City Hikes Senior Cash Aid to P6,000 Starting 2016

(PNA) — The Mandaue City government will increase its financial assistance to the city’s senior citizens to PHP6,000 each starting next year.

Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes said the cash assistance started from only PHP500 to each senior citizen in 2007 to PHP3,000 this year.

Cortes said the city council passed an ordinance increasing the amount to PHP6,000 starting in 2016.

Cortes said the city needs PHP114 million for the PHP6,000 cash assistance to each of the 19,000 senior citizens in 27 barangays in the city.

The city’s senior citizens received PHP1,500 as half of their annual financial assistance last week.
