Cebu City Releases P137M Cash Aid to Seniors, PWDs

The Cebu City Government on Tuesday started releasing PHP137 million worth of financial assistance to senior citizens, person with disabilities and barangay officials.

The recipients include 10,000 persons with disabilities (PWDs), 60,000 senior citizens and 800 barangay officials and workers in the city.

Cebu City Treasurer Diwa Cuevas said PHP10 million was set aside for the PWDs who each received PHP1,000 Tuesday.

The amount is the second tranche of the cash aid this year for the PWDs, who received PHP1,000 in April.

Their total financial assistance for 2015 is PHP5,000 each.

Cuevas said PHP120 million will be released to the elderly with each of them getting PHP2,000 on Wednesday.

Cuevas said this is the second tranche of financial assistance this year since they have already released PHP1,000 in May.

Their total financial assistance for 2015 is PHP12,000.

Cuevas said PHP7 million has been set aside for the incentives of the citiy’s barangay officials for the second quarter of the year to be released on Thursday.

The 80 barangay captains will receive PHP15,000 each at PHP5,000 per month; PHP9,000 at PHP3,000 per month for the 560 barangay councilors; PHP6,000 at PHP2,000 per month for the 80 barangay secretaries; and another PHP6,000 at PHP2,000 per month for the 80 barangay treasurers. (PNA) LAP/EB/EDS
