‘Drugs from New Bilibid Prison, Cebu, Ozamis Reach Bohol’ – PDEA

Tagbilaran City, Bohol (PNA) — The Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency (PDEA) identified the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa as among the sources of drugs reaching Bohol, although the bulk of the supply come from Cebu and Ozamis City.

PDEA-Bohol Provincial Officer Jigger Juniller reported this during the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) meeting on Wednesday (June 17) held in Inabanga.

According to Juniller, Metro Manila conduits sent the drugs from NBP to Bohol through parcel.

Those coming from Cebu were sent to Bohol through roll-on roll-off (RORO) vessels docking at the ports of Tagbilaran, Tubigon, Ubay, Jagna, Talibon, Loon, and Getafe.

Some of the transshipment from Cebu to the shorelines of the Bohol were through fishing vessels, Juniller added.

PDEA-Bohol monitored a total of 314 drug personalities in their list. This includes 234 in the watchlist, 38 in the target list, 17 in the wanted list and 52 in suspense file.

Juniller also said shabu is still the “the most saleable type of drug in the street and is available in places near colleges and universities, fishing communities and tourist destinations.”

Second as drug of choice is marijuana which Juniller said “is not prevalent on the streets”, because of its limited supply in the province.

Nubain ranked the third as drug of choice and “usually prevalent in Tagbilaran City,” Junillier added.

So far, there have been no ecstacy and cocaine in the province, according to Juniller.

PDEA-Bohol also noted the street value of shabu at PHP4,000 per gram and PHP15,000 for large packs–locally called “bulto.”

The PDEA has no record on the price of shabu in kilos, saying there has been no reports on any transaction involving one-kilo packs.

For dried marijuana leaves, Juniller reported that they are sold in tea bags at PHP300 per tea bag.

PDEA-Bohol also monitored a existing marijuana cultivation in the province, but they are only few and some were only grown in “pots and other movable containers that are mostly for personal consumption,” according to Juniller.

Based on their monitoring, Juniller said the marijuana plants were seen in the towns of Maribojoc, Loon, Pilar, San Miguel and Garcia-Hernandez and other mountainous barangays of Bohol. (PNA) FFC/ANGELINE VALENCIA/EDS
