Beach Tips for the Family

Published

on

(NC) Heading to the beach with your family? Make the most of your time in the sun with these tips from Banana Boat sun care and partner, dermatologist Dr. Julia Carroll:

Keep them busy – Beach tick-tack-toe, scavenger hunts and sand castle contests are great activities for all ages. Winner gets to skip out on dish duty for a week! Just remember to pack hats and lightweight shirts for that time out of the water.

Keep them hydrated – Avoid any nasty after effects of the sun by packing healthy, hydrating snacks like watermelon, oranges, celery sticks, and cucumber to keep your family refreshed. Freeze juice boxes to keep foods cold until lunch time and provide a slushy afternoon treat.

Keep them shaded – As many beaches lack natural shade, make sure you bring yours with you. This means hats and sunglasses for the entire family and a nice big beach umbrella to rest under when the sun gets too hot.

Keep them protected – An absolute must for a day in the sun is sunscreen. For those sandy days at the beach, try the new Banana Boat SunComfort Sunscreen Spray. It’s the only sunscreen that lets you spray, play in the sand and then easily brush the sand off your sunscreen-covered skin.

For the best protection, put sunscreen on before heading out into the sun, and reapply it at least every two hours. If you are swimming, towel-drying, and sweating, you will need to apply sunscreen more often. Even if it’s a cloudy day at the beach, remember that you still need to protect your family’s skin from the sun.
