Police on Manhunt Operation Against Ozamiz Robbery Group
The Cebu City Police Office launched a manhunt operation against members of the robbery group, whose planned to rob a jewelry store yesterday was foiled.
Cebu City Police Office director Mariano Natu-el Jr. said all exit points of Cebu are already being watched by PNP men in case the suspects would leave the province. Police believe the group had eight to 10 members, who are from Ozamiz City.
Natu-el said nine of these suspects were armed on their way to the mall in Cebu City, where the target jewelry store was located. Luckily, the plan was aborted after a police patrol car was seen in the area before the group, in a rented van, could disembark from it. Edgar Rubite, the driver of the van who was held captive by the suspects, told police he overheard the group talking about their plan.
Police recovered seven caliber .45 pistols, several ammunition, two KG9 pistols, a fragmented grenade, two pipe wrenches, and a telescope inside the abandoned van. The suspects had already left the area before authorities arrived.
