6 Ways to Change Your Beauty Routine for Summer

1) Ditch the foundation.
In the warmer months, foundations can look a bit heavy, especially since the sun is out more. To avoid that cakey face, invest in the new CC creams. CC creams, also known as Color Control cream is a more refined blemish balm cream or BB cream. In general, BB creams tend to be more preventive and CC creams, more corrective. While a BB cream will like have anti-aging elements and treat breakouts, a CC cream will focus on existing issues. According to Smashbox, CC creams primes, protects, moisturizes and controls oil, plus it neutralizes and brightens skin for a more even complexion. CC creams also tend to be lighter than BB creams which make them a good choice for a warmer weather.

2) Use serums instead of moisturizers.

During summer, skin can get oily a lot quicker. Using moisturizers leave your skin a bit greasy. To combat that problem, use a lighter serum. A moisturizer has larger molecules than a serum which means that a moisturizer will not penetrate the skin as far as a serum will. While facial serums can give you added moisture, the main reason you’d want to use a facial serum is to get added nutrients into deeper layers of your skin that a regular moisturizer is not able to reach.

3) Start with primers first.

These are a must. For your make-up to last, start with some make-up primer. They help make-up adhere to your skin longer and many of them also blur imperfections. They help your foundation last while also mattifying your skin to reduce shine.

4) The key is to exfoliate.

Exfoliating is the key to glowing, gorgeous skin. Nobody wants to look dull, dry and old lady like. Exfoliating prevents old skin building up on your face. No need to overdo it though. One to two times a week will do. If you ever run out of product, another tip is to mix olive oil with brown sugar.

5) Keep your face in place with waterproof makeup.

As the weather gets warmer, many of us will find ourselves sweating and our faces get greasy. It’s important to use makeup that can last through all that. From no-budge bronzers to smear-free shadows, water-resistant makeup will stay put – rain or shine.

6) Use oil blotting sheets.

Oil blotting sheets soak up excess oil from your face without smudging makeup or leaving behind a residue. It also reduces that undesirable shine. Make sure oil blotting sheets are a staple in your bag.
