Metrobank Opens 2015 Search For Outstanding Police Officers

(PIA) – The Metrobank Foundation has opened the search for the next Country’s Outstanding Police Officers in Service (COPS). The nomination is now open for deserving police officers who have rendered valuable and exemplary service to the community.

The Philippine National Police (PNP), in partnership with the Metrobank Foundation, Inc. (MBFI), Rotary Club of New Manila East (RCNME), and Philippine Savings Bank (PSBank) signed a memorandum of agreement last November 17, 2014 to mark the start of the “Search for COPS 2015.”

According to the PNP, ten police officers from all over the country who have shown exemplary performance during their career as policemen and policewomen will be selected by MBFI and RCNME during the search.

For the “Commissioned Officers” category, participants must be in the rank of at least Police Inspector to Police Senior Superintendent until the Official Conferment of Award in September 2015. If a nominee, holding a rank of Senior Superintendent, is promoted to the next higher rank, the effectivity of promotion should be after September 2015 to make him/her eligible for the award.

For the “Non-Commissioned Officers” category, applicants must be at least in the position of Police Officer 1 to Senior Police Officer 4 (SPO4) until the Official Conferment of Award in September 2015. If a nominee, holding rank of SPO4, is promoted to the next higher rank, the effectivity of promotion should be also after September 2015 to make him/her eligible for the award.

Likewise, applicants who have the rank of SPO4 and Senior Superintendent should not have any pending application for promotion to the next higher and have rendered at least seven years of continuous active service.

Applicants must be of good moral character and have not been charged of criminal case, including but not limited to those involving moral turpitude which is pending in court and have no pending administrative case involving less grave misconduct or higher in any government administrative body.

Those who are not current nominees/finalists or previous winners of any civilian-related national awards like the Ten Outstanding Policewomen of the Police (TOPWP), The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM), Ten Outstanding Policemen of the Philippines (TOPP) and the likes, and applicants who have not been finalists in said search for two times.

Also, posthumous award will not be granted.

The winners shall each receive a cash prize of Four Hundred Thousand Pesos (Php 400,000). Forty Thousand Pesos (Php 40,000) of the cash prize will go to the unit of assignment of the winner during the time of nomination as support for capacity building projects and other programs as may identified by the winner and his/her superior. Each winner will also be given a trophy and medal.

RCNME, in cooperation with the PNP, has been conducting an annual search for the Best Community Oriented Policemen to encourage and foster the ideal community service among the officers and personnel of the PNP by giving due and fitting recognition to those who have rendered valuable and exemplary service in this specific field of work.
