Check Yellow Label for Energy-Efficient Appliances – DTI
Dagupan City (PIA) – To give the consumers the best value for their money, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) advised the public to always check on the energy guide label or yellow cards attached on their appliances.
Peter Mangabat, director of DTI-Pangasinan, said as part of the trade and industry department’s advocacy on energy savings this coming December, the public was advised to check the presence of yellow cards or energy guide labels which are usually attached on household appliances.
“Take note and buy only appliances with higher Energy Efficiency Factor (EEF) to reduce energy consumption,” Mangabat said in a press statement.
Mangabat said the higher the energy efficiency factor means the lower the operating cost of appliances.
The EEF or yellow card allows consumers to compare different brands and model based on the energy efficiency and energy consumption.
He said the DTI encouraged the consumers to carefully read the EEF attached to their appliances like room air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, electrical lamps, bulbs and ballasts to help them compute and reduce their power consumption and generate peso savings.
“A well-informed consumer is the best protected consumer,” said Mangabat encouraging the public to exercise their right to information in order to get the best value for their money. (MCA/EMBS/PIA-1, Pangasinan/DTI)
