Palace: Critics Free to Wear Political Colors on SONA
Malacañang said critics of the administration are free to wear political colors during President Benigno Aquino’s fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday.
Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte on Friday said everyone is free to don any color on that day, adding that there are no efforts on the part of administration to coordinate colors of their outfits to show support for the President.
When asked if the government is expecting protests this year after the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) controversy, she said the police is ready for any eventuality.
Aquino last week urged Filipinos to wear yellow ribbons to show support for his administration in the face of eroding public satisfaction on his government. Malacañang has said Aquino’s statement should not be taken too seriously.
Valti, on Friday, said the President met with his speechwriters to go over the facts of his speech. She declined to reveal more information on the President’s speech, saying they will preempt its content if they will give some clues.
