Quest Welcomes New Executive Sous Chef

A man of few words and a little on the shy side yet commands over 40 staff with friendly but stern approach – that’s Chef Dionisio de los Reyes, the new Executive Sous Chef at the helm of Quest Hotel & Conference Center Cebu’s culinary department.

Chef Toto, as his colleagues call him had no formal culinary schooling but passion, sheer talent and the relentless yearning to learn and be the best in his craft proves to be his strongest qualities that cemented his career in the culinary scene.

Chef Toto hailed from Negros, thus the nickname. He started his career as a stewarding staff and learned the kitchen acumen from his uncle who was a cook. Given the opportunity to work in the kitchen with his uncle as his mentor and learning from cook books and online videos, he was able to hone his craft and skills.

He has had the opportunity to work in various local hotels and restaurants in the Philippines. His specialties are Filipino and Spanish cuisine with the first perfectly suited for Quest and its restaurant Puso.

Although he had a humble beginning in the kitchen, he has proven his skills and talent with the various silver, gold and gold with distinction awards in various professional culinary competition around the country.
