Chiong to Support Davide’s Administration
●Davide welcomed Chiong’s pledge of support, says he had not extended assistance to the City since he assumed office
They are not political allies, but City of Naga Mayor Valdemar Chiong has pledged his support to Governor Hilario Davide III.
“Kita willing makigtinabangay ni Gov. Not necesarrily mag-LP (Liberal Party) ta,” said Chiong.
Chiong is with Alayon Party which supports One Cebu, a rival party of LP in the 2013 elections.
For his part, Davide welcomed Chiong’s pledge of support and assured to continue whatever tie-ups the former administration has had with the City of Naga.
Davide admitted that since he assume office last year, his administration had not yet extended assistance to the said city.
He, however, told the barangay captains of Naga, who came with Chiong in a visit to Davide’s office yesterday, to submit to him their request for the P100,000 financial assistance for each of the city’s 28 barangays. Davide said he will have to read the proposal before he decides on it.
It can be recalled that in the last elections, Davide lost in Naga, which supported the gubernatorial candidacy of Pablo John Garcia.
Chiong cleared that while the city officials may be willing to back Davide with his projects, they will remain in the party that their mother party (Alayon) supports.
