Police Regional Office (PRO-7) claims hitting halfway this year’s target for its campaign against ‘Most Wanted Persons’ (MWP’s).

During last Wednesday ‘Talakayan sa Isyung Polis’ (TSIP) Forum at Camp Sergio Osmeña, Police Regional Office 7 Regional Director PC/Supt Danilo Constantino said they are on track with the performance compliance in their campaign against MWP’s.

“For this year January until March 26, we apprehended 26 out of the 47 MWP target,” Constantino said.

He said this is because they had been intense in informing the public on the identity of these MWP’s using useful materials such as ‘foldable’ fans and Hotline Number stickers.

Constantino said the identities of these MWP’s are printed on the foldable fans and are distributed in buses and ship terminals or in areas where there are crowd convergence.

They started the distribution since January during the Sinulog season. Constantino claimed they had distributed more than 1,700 foldable fans this year.

Police Senior Inspector Mark Sucalit, representing the Regional Intelligence and Investigation Division (RIID), said that other than the fans, they are also set to launch the force multipliers utilizing the security guards.

He said they will be given sim cards they can use to contact the police immediately upon sighting the MWP.

Sucalit, in his presentation, said under Constantino’s administration, they require police units to submit a listing of MWP’s and impose a six percent performance target.

In the entire region, there are 775 MWP’s and six percent of that is 47. The unit who submitted the most number of MWP’s is Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) with 346 and set a target of 21 for this year.

As of press time, Police Superintendent Anthony Bagarinao said they had arrested 7 MWP’s or 33.3 percent compliant.

It is followed by Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) with 7 apprehensions out of the 11 persons target. They submitted a total of 182 MWP’s.

Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) on the other hand submitted 89 MWP’s and targeted five persons this year.

So far they already arrested four, marking 80 percent compliance.

Siquijor Police Provincial Office submitted 46 MWP’s, and targeted three. So far they already arrested two.

Lapulapu City Police Office submitted 48 MWP’s and targeted three arrests. As of this month, newly installed City Director Police Senior Superintendent Armando Radoc said they already arrested one MWP.

Both Cebu City and Mandaue City Police Offices targeted two apprehensions out of the 36 and 31 submitted MWP’s respectively.

Mandaue posted 100 percent compliance after meeting the two apprehension targets, while Cebu City had three arrests, posting 150 percent compliance.

Sucalit said other than target setting, PRO-7 is closely monitoring the performance of each police unit or else they will be made to explain.

Campaign against MWP is one of the major thrust of the Philippine National Police.
