PB Asks NBI Update on Archival Case
The Cebu Provincial Board (PB) has asked National Bureau of Investigation (NBI 7) director Antonio Pagatpat to appear before them to give them updates on the case of lawyer Noel Archival.
“This august body finds it imperative that all means necessary for the speedy resolution of the case should be utilized to uphold justice,” read the resolution approved yesterday.
The board has recognized Archival as a “prominent Cebuano lawyer who has helped many individuals.” The Cebuano lawyer was murdered while traveling along the highway of Barangay Coro, Dalaguete after attending a court hearing in Dumaguete last February 18. Two others died in the attack.
The PB also asked Pagatpat to provide them a “clear view” of the pending case.
Meanwhile, the board condemned the killing of Archival and his two aides.
“This bold faced, audacious attack is an affront against the State and to each and every peace-loving Cebuano, lending to the distorted perception of a “culture of impunity” prevailing upon the criminal justice system of the Cebu Province,” the resolution said.
“Resolved as it is hereby resolved that a resolution condemning, in the strongest possible terms, the killing of Atty. Noel Archival, Edu Miñoza and Alejandro Jaime,” it further said.
