Capitol to Impound Trucks With No Stickers on January 20
Cebu Provincial Capitol will start impounding delivery trucks on January 20 if these don’t have the latest tax stickers.
This was what Capitol Security Officer, Loy Anthony Madrigal, revealed in a press conference on Tuesday morning.
Madrigal said under the province’s Revenue Code, particularly Article H, Chapter III, the provincial government has the right to impose annual fixed tax to every truck, van or “any vehicle used by manufacturers, producers, wholesalers, dealers or retailers” in the delivery of their products.
The annual fixed tax is P550. Madrigal said after the payment, they will provide sticker to be posted at the visible area of the vehicle for the monitoring team to see.
The security officer said this measure has taken effect since 2008, at the time when this Revenue Code, which carries it, was approved.
He said last year, they monitored these trucks and discovered that there were still so many of them that bears expired stickers. He added they had to give them chance but on January 20, if these are not complied with, they will have to start impounding them.
Under the Code, failure to pay this particular tax will mean an additional 25 percent in surcharge and another 2 percent per month to be slapped to the erring operators. The province can also impound the vehicle, and charge a P50.00 fee for each day they are under its custody.
