200 Families Evacuated
At least 200 families from the coastal and upland areas of the City of Naga, Cebu have left their houses to stay at the city gymnasium and covered court before super typhoon “Yolanda” hits Central Visayas on Friday.
Garry Cabotaje, the city’s public information officer-designate, said at least 150 families or 349 individuals, “mostly members of the Ati tribe in South Poblacion evacuated and stayed at the city gym.” He said another 50 families from Barangays Tinaan and Central Poblacion have also transferred to the covered badminton court of the city.
Mayor Val Chiong has also issued Memorandum Order number 1107-2013 ordering the suspension of work (half-day) on Thursday & whole day on Friday, when Yolanda is expected to make landfall.
