City Preempts Security for ‘Kalag-kalag 2013’
The close to 1,000 police personnel in Cebu City are already prepared to secure the people who will pay visits in 22 public and private cemeteries during the All Saint’s and All Soul’s Days (Kalag-kalag) celebrations on November 1 and 2, Mayor Michael Rama said after a meeting with the chiefs of different police stations.
Aside from the policemen, the mayor said the over 1,000 barangay tanods of different barangays will also augment the police personnel in maintaining peace and order inside and within the vicinity of the various cemeteries from October 25 to November 2.
The mayor explained that the tanods and policemen will be deployed early in the cemeteries days before the two-day celebrations because several people will go there to clean the tombs of their loved ones.
While the Cebu City government will not give cash incentives to policemen and tanods, but the city will be providing food packs to each of the peace-keeping personnel.
Rama again reminded the public that the bringing of sharp pointed or bladed objects, liquor, sound systems are strictly not allowed inside the cemeteries during the two-day activities.
