Going on a Road Trip? Remember to Pack These!
If you’re looking for an adventure during the semestral break or if you just simply want to drift far from your busy work schedule but hate the long drive, here are some essentials that will keep you comfortable all the way!
- Audio books. Check out some new-to-you audio books out of the library that kids and adults alike may enjoy.
- Car food. You can either bring along crumb-free, non-greasy or gooey finger food like grapes and sandwiches or better yet, your family’s favorite “treat” food like chips and baked goods.
- Pillows and blankets. Make a cold car cozy by packing your favorite bed pillows and blankets.
- Paper products. Paper towels, toilet paper, newspapers…bring more than you think you’ll need. There’s always a possibility of a few spills and carsickness during your trip.
- Spare keys. Getting locked out of the car in the middle of nowhere is the worst thing that can happen. Always pack a duplicate set of car and household keys in your pocket or in a separate bag.
- First aid kit. Headaches, scrapes and nicks will always be a possibility. Be prepared with antiseptics, band-aids and bandages, pain relievers and motion sickness medicine.
- Breakdown supplies. Double-check your trunk for a complete roadside emergency kit, including a flashlight and fresh batteries.
- Fresh clothes. These are essential especially when traveling with children. (Adapted by Jessy Pearl)
