Windows 8.1 Now Available

Microsoft’s Windows 8.1 is now available as a free download for all Windows 8 users. All existing Windows 8 users will see a notification in the Windows Store with a prompt to upgrade to the new operating system; clicking or tapping on it starts the upgrade process.

Windows 8.1 brings a host of changes for the desktop operating system, including the return of the Start button and several new and enhanced features like start screen customization and organization, expanded multitasking and search.

If you’re on an earlier version of Windows, the upgrade will costs $119.99 for the standard version and $199.99 for Windows 8.1 Pro. DVD copies of Windows 8.1 will also be for sale in some stores.
