‘It’s Bogo Shoal not Lagundi’
A non-government organization has appealed to the Talisay City government to change the naming of Lagundi Reef to Bogo Shoal which is actually the real name of the said marine sanctuary.
“Someone started calling it Lagundi Reef and then the rest picked it up,” said Alfie Fernandez of the Knight-Stewards of the Sea, Inc. (Seaknights). Fernandez said it can be proven in the official map of marine sanctuaries in the country that what is referred to Lagundi Reef is Bogo Shoal. He said even the city government, in its ordinances, has mistakenly called it Lagundi.
Thus, the Seaknight, an environmental organization, submitted recently a letter to the city government asking it to refer the Lagundi Reef as Bogo Shoal as there is actually no such name in its jurisdiction.
For the meantime while the name change is still not addressed, Fernandez and his group volunteered to do cleanup dives in the subject marine sanctuary, which has been neglected for the last five years.
