Fight Workplace Weight Gain!

on

These “office” solutions will ensure that your appetite doesn’t get the better of you.

Drink more water. Dieters who replace sugary drinks with water lose up to five pounds a year and those who drink a couple more cups a day increase weight loss by over two pounds a year.

Brush your teeth. Studies show that brushing your teeth in the middle of the day helps control your appetite. This is because the sugar in the toothpaste substitutes your cravings for something sweet. Carry travel-sized toothpastes to work and brush after lunch to help resist afternoon snack attacks.

Get a buddy. Enlist your close colleague as your buddy and tell her to stop you whenever you turn to mindless snacking. Stress leads you to binge on anything close at hand and a nagging friend is a great way to keep pressure of eating at bay.

Ditch the cafeteria. Most cafeteria food is high in calories and fat. Bring a packed lunch to work instead or choose healthier, grease-free options to be delivered at your office. (Adapted by Jessy Pearl)
