Google Workspace Users to Gain Access to Gemini App for Android and iOS

If you have a Google Workspace account, then you’ll have access to the best ChatGPT alternative on your phone, as Google has begun rolling out its Gemini app for Android and iOS to Workspace users in work and education settings.

The Gemini app, originally announced in September, offers a mobile-friendly way for users to access advanced AI capabilities. Workspace customers can now access the service by downloading the Android shortcut or installing the newly launched iPhone app.

However, the version of Gemini embedded in the Google app does not currently support enterprise emails.

The Gemini app, much like the ChatGPT app, will enable users to perform research and find quick answers. A standout feature allows users to utilize their phone’s camera to photograph handwritten notes and seamlessly export them to Google Docs or Gmail.

Furthermore, users can take pictures of whiteboard sketches, such as charts, and transform them into presentation-ready visuals.

Meanwhile, not all features will be available at launch. The Google Workspace Gemini Extension, which integrates with Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Drive, Keep, and Tasks, is still in development.

Functionalities like file uploads and “Gems” are not yet supported. On Android, the app does not currently work with Work Profile configurations, limiting its compatibility with certain enterprise setups.

The rollout will cover various Google Workspace editions over the coming weeks. These include Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Starter, Enterprise Standard, and Enterprise Plus. Other eligible accounts are Frontline Starter, Frontline Standard, Essentials, Enterprise Essentials, and Google Workspace for Nonprofits. Education-focused editions such as Education Fundamentals, Education Standard, and Education Plus are also included.

Moreover, Gemini app access extends to Google Workspace customers subscribed to specialized add-ons, such as Gemini Business, Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education, and Gemini Education Premium. (GFB)
