BDO Forms Business Alliance with Japan’s Hyakujushi Bank
On April 3, 2023, BDO Unibank Inc. (BDO) and The Hyakujushi Bank Ltd. (HBL) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to establish a business alliance agreement. HBL is a leading regional bank based in Kagawa Prefecture, Japan, with 132 branches, including satellite offices and commercial banking services. This partnership makes HBL the 16th Japanese bank to team up with BDO.
The purpose of the MOU is to strengthen the relationship between the two banks, with BDO providing banking support services to Japanese business entities who are HBL customers and have existing operations or plan to build or expand their businesses in the Philippines. Over the past 10 years, BDO has formed partnerships with several strategically located Japanese Regional Banks in various prefectures of Japan, the world’s third-largest economy.
HBL, which was established in 1878, has 60,000 corporate clients mostly located in industrial zones. The bank plans to expand its customer base in the Philippines through new investments and business matching deals.
BDO is the largest bank in the Philippines in terms of total assets, loans, deposits, and trust funds under management. The bank has over 1,600 consolidated operating branches, more than 4,600 ATMs nationwide, and 16 international offices in Asia, Europe, North America, and the Middle East. In addition, BDO offers extensive digital banking solutions to make banking easier, faster, and more secure for its clients.
