SBMI Starts Probe
The Special Board of Marine Inquiry (SBMI) is set to start investigating on Friday the ship collision incident last week which sank MV St. Thomas Aquinas that killed at least 74 passengers.
The SBMI team arrived at 5 pm on Thursday and is expected to convene early morning Friday. The investigating team will not only summon the ship captains of MV St. Thomas Aquinas and Sulpicio Express 7, but also the captain of MV Trans-Asia 9, which was reportedly spotted near the site when the accident occurred but instead of helping out, the said passenger vessel just moved on.
As of Thursday, authorities said there are 74 fatalities, while 66 were still missing.
