PH, New Zealand to Continue Cooperative Exploration on Geothermal Energy
Cooperative exploration on geothermal energy between the Philippines and New Zealand will continue as Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Alfonso Cusi and New Zealand Ambassador to the Philippines Peter Kell on Friday signed the Second Amendment to the Arrangement on Geothermal Energy Cooperation at the DOE headquarters in Taguig City.
The Agreement will let both countries to continue the exchange of geothermal energy best practices and technical expertise.
Cusi welcomed the Agreement, saying that it will help the country in its goal to revitalize geothermal energy development.
“We welcome the formalization of the Second Amendment to the Arrangement on geothermal energy cooperation which comes at such an opportune time, considering that one of our primary goals is to revitalize the state of geothermal energy development and utilization in the Philippines,” Secretary Cusi said.
New Zealand has helped the country in providing energy solutions in the past, as it assisted the Philippines in the development of the Tongonan and Southern Negros geothermal fields. (GFB)
