DOE Warns Public vs Butane-Powered Stove
The Department of Energy (DOE) on Thursday warned the public to make sure that the portable butane stoves they are using do not use liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), as they may cause explosion.
There is, however, no report on such matter, but the DOE said the demand for refillable canisters is increasing, as more and more households are shifting to butane stove and LPG-filled cans may come out in the market soon. A brand new butane-filled canister is around P90, and P30 for each refill. DOE said with this business becoming a hit, the LPG industry may take a bite on it and may start refilling these little cans with this kind of gas.
The Department of Trade and Industry had issued a warning on this saying that LPG is unsafe to thin containers like the butane canisters.
Based on Philippine National Standard regulations, only welded steel cylinders with a water capacity of one-150 liters are intended for storing LPG.
