Nutrition Program Coordinators’ Association of Region VII (NPCAR) holds the 8th Regional Congress of District, City and Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinators that highlights the importance of nutrition amidst the pandemic.

The activity themed: “NPCARonnn: NPCAR Optimizing the New Normal for Nutrition” focuses on enhancing the adaptive knowledge and skills needed by local nutrition program coordinators to deal with the challenges of the next normal in a virtual congress scheduled on 08 October 2021 at 1:30 pm via the National Nutrition Council Region VII’s official Facebook page.

The 8th Regional Congress aims to increase adaptive knowledge and skills needed to optimize the opportunities laid by new normal conditions for nutrition gains. Highlighting the event is a keynote message by the National President of the District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators’ Association of the Philippines (D/CNPCAP) Ms. Raquel B. Buere and covers topics on Innovating Nutrition Programs in the New Normal, the Opportunities presented by the Mandanas-Garcia Ruling for Nutrition and Managing BNSs for Optimal Nutrition Outcomes.

The congress gives recognition to the role of D/C/MNPCs as essential in managing directives of local chief executives and nutrition action officers into action points and then coordinating these for implementation of the members of the local nutrition committees as well as sub-level nutrition committees. They serve as the glue that ensures that the LGUs nutrition program does not fall apart.

With over 140 District/City/Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinators in the region, capacitating this particular workforce could provide Central Visayas a better shot at reaching the nutrition outcomes such as decreasing the magnitude of malnutrition and ensuring that nutrition targets are reached.

The National Nutrition Council Region VII and the officers of the NPCAR 7 Inc. hope this activity could strengthen D/C/MNPCs as they implement the nutrition programs in their communities.
