Breastfeeding Moms Advised to Get COVID Vax
Breastfeeding mothers in Central Visayas are urged to get the COVID-19 vaccine says the Department of Health (DOH 7) in the region.
Ronadit Capala Arriesgado, Nurse V at the DOH-7 Center for Health Development, said that mothers who already received the COVID-19 vaccine can pass on antibodies to their babies while breastfeeding.
The department has also said that all vaccines are safe for breastfeeding mothers except for the Sputnik V.
DOH also noticed that the number of breastfeeding mothers decreased due to the pandemic.
Breastfeeding is crucial for the development of the child, especially on the first 1,000 days of babies.
The country celebrates National Breastfeeding Awareness Month this month and World Breastfeeding Week from August 1 to 7. (ASC)
