Google Sends UNICEF PH Aid to Fight COVID-19
Google’s humanitarian arm, Google.org, said on Thursday that it will donate $300,000 (P15 million) to the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) in the Philippines to support the countries effort against COVID-19.
According to UNICEF Philippines, this grant will be used for COVID-19 responses which includes the training of health workers in infection prevention and control, distribution of hygiene and disinfection kits, support continued learning of children, and increase access to medical, legal, psychological and social services for children and women survivors.
Google Philippines mentioned the importance of supporting the country’s healthcare system, especially with the new variants that have started to spread in the country.
Meanwhile, Google.org also said that it will provide $5 million worth of Ad Grants to local government agencies in Southeast Asia, to help run public health information campaigns for free.
This is donation is part of the $1.5 million donated to UNICEF in Asian countries including Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Pakistan. (ASC)
