Talisay Dad Wants More Funds for Scholarship
Citing the importance of college education, Talisay City neophyte Councilor Aldin Diaz wants to improve the city’s scholarship program by providing more funds to it.
Diaz, who was elected as councilor last May, said the Alay Lakad Foundation-which currently supports hundreds of scholars at the Talisay City College-is not enough especially that more and more students are in need of financial assistance for their college education.
“Education is very much important to our life in order to have a better life soon as we finished the different field or degrees we choose to have,” said the neophyte legislator.
With that in mind, Diaz has calendared a proposed resolution allowing every indigent family to enroll a member for a scholarship program. Under his proposal, Diaz outlined that a qualified family will be entitled to a P3,500 allowance per semester for its student.
The amount, he said, will cover the tuition fees and other miscellaneous fees such as the books, and other school expenses. Diaz said the program, if approved, will help the city’s poor families in the hopes of changing their lives through educating their young.
“Through this scholarship program, the poorest of the poor families benefited will elevate their economic life status. Through this program our indigent Talisaynon are very fortunate to have been chosen as our dynamic beneficiaries,” he said.
